Whenever you think of the word “France”, a few things come into mind immediately. The Eiffel Tower, The Mona Lisa and last but not least: The Croissant. The name of this flaky viennoserie pastry means literally, “crescent”, which is its easily identifiable universal shape all over the world. Commonly found in continental breakfasts, this beloved French pastry is sometimes considered to be one of France’s national treasures and undoubtedly, helped reinforce the influence of French culinary art throughout the planet. Inspired by the Austrian pastry, “Kipferl” who was introduced into France by a Viennese baker. It became so popular that the French made their own version of the “Kipferl”, named it “Croissant” and the rest is history.
Nowadays, croissants are ever-present in almost all bakeries and cafes that exist on Planet Earth. Unsurprisingly, resulted in many countries creating their own version of the croissant, made specifically to suit each country’s local palate. Filled with Ham and Cheese in the USA or Nutella in Germany, there is simply no wrong way to consume a heart-warming croissant.
Here at Chérie Croissant, we made it our mission to stick to the original croissant as much as possible. While at the same, present to you our very own unique take on this legendary pastry. This process took time. Finally, after the perfect balance of tradition and progressiveness in our recipe was found, we have grown to love our croissants and started to call the affectionately as our “sweethearts”, or as they say it in France, “Chérie”. Hence, the “Chérie Croissant” was born and we have made it our mission, and our duty, to get you and all your friends and families, acquainted with our croissants, made with love.
